More than 75 Coimbatore corporation school students pass NMMS exam

COIMBATORE: More than 75 Coimbatore corporation school students have passed the National Means Cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme Examination in the academic year 2025-26. The marks were released a few days ago.

The final list is expected to be released on Tuesday, which will give the exact number of students who will get the scholarship. A corporation official said the number of students qualified this year is three times more than that in the previous year. The official said, "In the academic year 2024-2025, around 27 students studying in middle, high school and higher secondary schools of the corporation passed the examination.

But this time, the results indicated that more than 75 students have the opportunity to receive the scholarship. The reason is that students are being provided with special training to prepare for various competitive examinations in addition to their academics.

" The NMMS is provided to students studying in Class VIII in govt and govt-aided schools. As part of the scholarship criteria, the annual family income of the participating students should not exceed Rs 1.50 lakh and the student should have secured at least 55% marks in the full-year examination of Class VII.

Students who pass this examination are given a scholarship of Rs 1,000 every month. In addition, Class VIII students who pass the examination are given a total scholarship of Rs 48,000 for the next four years from their education from classes IX to XII. Accordingly, Rs 12,000 is paid into their bank account every year.
