In a rare and remarkable case, a 34-year-old woman who already had four children gave birth to triplets through normal delivery at the district hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna, with both the mother and all three newborns reported to be stable.

Kanchan Soni, a resident of Ujnehi village in Panna district, was initially admitted to the Panna district hospital after experiencing labour pain. Doctors there confirmed the presence of three foetuses and referred her to Satna district hospital due to the complexity of the case.

She was admitted on April 27 and delivered three babies over a span of about 90 minutes later that night.

According to hospital officials, the first child, a boy, was born at 10:34 pm. The second boy was delivered just 11 minutes later at 10:45 pm, followed by a girl at 11:57 pm.

All three births were conducted through normal delivery — a factor doctors described as particularly significant given the risks associated with multiple pregnancies.

The newborns were found to be in good health, weighing approximately 2 kg, 2.3 kg, and 2.65 kg, respectively.

Head of the gynaecology department, Dr Manju Singh, said both the mother and babies are stable and are currently under observation in the postnatal care (PNC) ward.

This is not the first such case at the hospital. A similar successful triplet delivery was recorded in November 2025.

FAMILY EXPANDS TO SEVEN CHILDREN

The case has also drawn attention for another reason. Kanchan Soni already has four children aged 11, 9, 7, and 5 years. With the birth of the triplets, the family now has seven children.

Family members were aware of the multiple pregnancy since the fifth month, when an ultrasound confirmed the presence of three foetuses.

While the case has sparked discussion around family planning awareness, the immediate focus at the hospital remains on the well-being of the mother and her newborns.

Officials said statements from hospital authorities and the family are expected later.
