Mother throws infant into pond; after fight with husband, she saw baby as obstacle: incident reported in Uttar Pradesh

BAREILLY: A 20-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing her one-month-old daughter by throwing her into a pond in Khetraha village in Lakhimpur Kheri district, police said on Sunday.The incident took place around 3 am, when the woman, identified as Kusum, waited for her family to fall asleep before taking the infant outside and throwing her into a nearby pond.Her husband, Dhoop Singh, woke up to find both his wife and daughter missing. He alerted the police. Kusum was later found near the pond and, during questioning, confessed to killing the baby allegedly stating that she wanted to leave her husband and saw the child as an obstacle.
