Movement as expression takes centre stage at TRANZ 2.0 gala evening

TRANZ 2.0, presented as part of the Sapphire Annual Gala on March 30 at Uttam Mancha, brought together over 40 dancers in an evening that celebrated contemporary dance as a medium of personal expression.

Conceptualised and directed by Sudarshan Chakravorty, the showcase highlighted a shift from rigid technique to an exploratory approach, where movement emerges from individual experience and internal impulses. The production also traced Sapphire’s journey from a community-based initiative to a globally recognised institution.

The event was attended by members of the artistic community, media and international cultural representatives. Several foreign dignitaries were felicitated, and students were honoured based on internal assessments. Through thematic segments exploring community, form, duality and continuity, TRANZ 2.0 presented dance as a living, evolving language rooted in identity and experience.

Somehow the evening becomes a personal journey of the realisation of the impulses which became dance and celebrated life itself for Sudarshan.
