MP road tragedy: 5 family members dead after car rams parked truck in Umaria

BHOPAL: Five members of a family were killed after the car they were travelling in crashed into a parked truck in Madhya Pradesh's Umaria district, police said on Friday.The death toll rose after a woman injured in the accident succumbed during treatment.The accident took place in Umaria district when the car rammed into the stationary truck parked along the roadside.Four occupants died on the spot after the collision, while another woman, who had sustained critical injuries, later died in hospital.

Police said all the victims belonged to the same family.The impact of the crash severely damaged the vehicle, trapping the occupants inside.On receiving information, police and local residents rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared four people dead.The fifth victim succumbed to injuries later.The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.Police have begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident, including whether poor visibility, speeding or other factors played a role in the crash.Further details are awaited.
