New Delhi: MSI has recently teased its latest and upcoming handheld gaming console, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, at a head-on event at its headquarters in Taiwan ahead of its reported debut on June 23. It will be the first handheld gaming device that is powered by Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme chip.
This device is expected to be unveiled on June 23. MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ features with an 8-inch 120Hz variable refresh rate display and unveils with the Xbox Mode, a controller-optimized full-screen Windows 11 interface that comes with the installed game libraries together in a console-like experience.
MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ will compete with the OneXPlayer handheld, which is also expected to use Intel Arc G3 series chips, but it will also compete with handheld gaming consoles such as the Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, which are powered by the AMD Ryzen Z-series chips. This processor is based on Intel’s latest Xe graphics architecture and supports ZeSS 3 and Multi-Frame Generation, which are intended to improve frame rates and visual performance in supported games.
The screen is specially designed to reduce the tearing and it will going to offer smoother visuals across a range of game titles. It also comes with the upgraded controls, including redesigned ergonomic grips, Hall-effect triggers and thumbsticks, revised shoulder buttons, and a more responsive D-pad.
These changes are focused on improving comfort and control during long gaming sessions. MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ includes a linear vibration motor that MSI claims delivers more detailed haptic feedback while consuming less power than previous implementations.
MSI has also redesigned the Quick Settings menu by allowing users to adjust options such as frame generation and performance settings without leaving the game. It comes with up to 32GB LPDDR5X dual-channel with one NVMe M.2 2280 SSD (PCI Gen 4×4). In terms of sensors, it has a 6-axis IMU and a vibration motor. It has two 2W speakers, Hi-Res Audio Ready, and DTS Audio processing. In ports, it has two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and it has an 80Wh battery.
