A stabbing incident in Mumbai's Mira Road was caught on camera by a construction worker. The accused, identified as Jaib Ansari, a former chemistry and mathematics teacher who studied in the United States, attacked two security guards. According to the police FIR, Ansari approached a guard, Subroto Sen, asked about a nearby mosque, and enquired if he was a Hindu before attacking him. Ansari then targeted the security supervisor, demanding he recite the Kalima, and stabbed him grievously when he failed to do so. Both victims were rushed to a nearby multi-specialty hospital, where one remains in critical condition. Ansari was arrested within ninety minutes of the incident. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated preliminary inputs suggest it was a lone wolf attack by a self-radicalised individual. Police investigations revealed Ansari's internet history was filled with ISIS Syria propaganda videos, and incriminating ISIS texts were seized from his residence. Authorities are investigating if an online handler instructed Ansari to carry out the attack to disturb law and order.
