Mumbai Rains Today: An Orange alert with gusty winds issued for Mumbai on July 7 forced the BMC to declare a holiday for all government, municipal and private schools and colleges

Maharashtra remained on edge as relentless monsoon rain triggered a landslide on the Mumbai-Pune Connecting Link, flooded rivers in Kolhapur, and prompted school closures across Mumbai, Pune and Palghar. Authorities in Nashik’s Trimbakeshwar have suspended darshan and begun evacuations amid fears of a cloudburst.

The Mumbai-Pune Connecting Link reopened within 24 hours after heavy rainfall triggered a landslide, with traffic restored once debris-clearance operations were completed.

Meanwhile, drone visuals from Kolhapur showed the Panchganga river creeping toward the warning mark, submerging 56 weirs and washing away a stretch of road near Mangle Weir, forcing the closure of three state highways. With smaller dams in the catchment nearing full capacity, officials fear the flooding could worsen if rain continues unabated.
