MUMBAI: In a tragic case that began as a suspected suicide, the death of 17-year-old in Bhandup last week has now been officially registered as murder, following a detailed investigation and confession by the prime suspect her minor friend .The deceased a resident of Mulund East and daughter was found grievously injured after allegedly falling from the terrace of a high-rise in Bhandup on the evening of June 24, 2025. She was declared dead at Mulund General Hospital. ``Shock due to multiple injuries, viscera for ca, organs for HP, Hairs for detection of foreign body, blood for grouping her post mortem report stated as the cause of her death .Police initially treated the case as an unnatural death under Section BNNS 194.
However, multiple discrepancies in Aditya’s statements, coupled with CCTV footage and witness accounts, led to mounting suspicion. Police said that the CCTV footage of the vicinity showed deceased entering the society with the accused at 6:18 PM, heading to the 32nd floor of D Wing.
Accused was later seen descending alone to the 30th floor and then the ground level. He then proceeded to the society gym, showing no visible signs of distress.
Deceased’s mobile phone was later found under E Wing, far from the terrace she allegedly fell from, raising further doubts. Police suspect that accused threw the mobile after pushing the deceased. Initially, accused claimed deceased jumped after being upset over academic performance and bullying at school. But when confronted with inconsistencies — including the planted location of her mobile phone accused confessed that he pushed her.
He said that duo had came in touch through Instagram and deceased had proposed him and wanted to meet him personally.He admitted that after deceased asked him again to start dating, a heated argument broke out. She allegedly pushed him first, and in a fit of rage, he pushed her back, causing her to fall from the terrace. He then threw her phone toward E Wing to mislead the investigation. Accused also went down the building and did some alteration in the society register. A woman in the building told police that she heard a commotion from the terrace.Police have now charged the accused under IPC Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence). His statement has been recorded in the presence of two panch witnesses and videographed.
