Elon Musk on Tuesday said he would donate to Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie’s 2026 re-election campaign, as his ongoing feud with US President Donald Trump intensified.
Musk made the announcement while responding to a post on X. When a user asked who would be supporting Massie’s 2026 bid, Musk simply replied, “Me."
The Tesla CEO went on to praise Massie directly, commenting “you’re awesome" on a post the congressman had shared that included a Fox News report about Musk’s support.
Massie responded warmly to Musk’s message, writing, “You’re too kind, but thank you!" Massie said, responding to Musk’s reply. “A large part of my job is to keep government from screwing things up for the engineers and entrepreneurs who do make this world a better place. I don’t think enough people appreciate the contributions you and your teams have made to civilization."

Musk’s latest comment comes as he renewed his criticism of Trump’s sweeping tax and spending bill, calling it “political suicide for the Republican Party." Previously, Musk had clashed with Trump following his departure from the administration, even calling for Trump’s impeachment and accusing him of links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Massie, along with Ohio Republican Warren Davidson, was one of only two Republicans in the House to vote against Trump’s so-called “megabill". Massie has strongly opposed the legislation, describing it as “a fiscal suicide pact between the White House and Republicans in Congress."
Beyond the spending bill, Massie has also criticised the Trump administration’s military strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Musk and Trump rift
The feud between Musk and Trump has escalated after Musk denounced the megabill on social media as “utterly insane" and “political suicide."
Trump retaliated by threatening to deploy the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — once led by Musk — to investigate his companies’ government subsidies. Trump also hinted at deportation, saying he might consider sending Musk “back home to South Africa."
Trump suggested, “We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon," and warned Musk could “lose a lot more" than just government subsidies.
