The absence of definitive external injuries has broadened the investigation
Jaipur: The mystery surrounding the death of a 10-year-old boy from Muhana deepened Friday, a day after his mutilated and decomposed body was recovered near a culvert in Keshyawala, with preliminary post-mortem findings failing to establish a clear cause of death. The child was missing for nearly 10 days before his body was found Thursday. While investigators initially suspected murder after noticing that the body appeared decapitated, preliminary medico-legal findings have raised fresh questions instead of providing clarity.Police sources said the initial post-mortem examination did not reveal definitive evidence of sharp-force injuries or other external trauma that could conclusively explain the severing of the child's head.
Doctors indicated that in cases of advanced decomposition, particularly in children, post-mortem disarticulation of the head can occur due to progressive tissue decay."When the body was recovered, we suspected that the head was severed using a sharp-edged weapon because of its condition. However, preliminary findings have not established that. We are awaiting the final forensic opinion," a senior police officer said.
Investigators said the advanced stage of decomposition has severely limited the identification of conventional injury patterns. Sources said doctors have not found major incised wounds, chop injuries or other deep external injuries typically associated with homicidal beheading. At the same time, the preliminary examination also has not conclusively established signs of ligature strangulation, manual throttling or other forms of asphyxial death. The absence of definitive external injuries has broadened the investigation. Police are examining multiple possibilities, including whether the boy accidentally entered the drain and died there or whether he was killed elsewhere and the body later dumped near the culvert."The forensic findings are still evolving. At this stage, neither accidental death nor homicide has been ruled out. We are awaiting the final post-mortem report, viscera examination and other forensic reports before reaching any conclusion," an officer said.Police teams are reconstructing the child's last movements, while forensic experts continue analysing evidence collected from the scene.
