Suresh V. Nadagoudar has taken charge as the new Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University (MGRDPRU) in Gadag on Thursday.
Prof. Nadagoudar earlier served as the founder-Registrar and then as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Following an order by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot appointing him as the full-time Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Nadagoudar assumed office on Thursday.
Speaking after assuming office, Prof. Nadagoudar thanked the Governor and the State government for bestowing him with the responsibility.
He said that since he has served the university as Registrar and acting Vice-Chancellor, he has thorough understanding of the objectives, vision and values of the university.
“I will work towards achieving academic excellence, quality research, facilitating entrepreneurship and extension activities. The focus will be on developing MGRDPR University into a national level model educational institution by ensuring coordination with all the stakeholders,” he said.
A senior faculty member of legal education, Prof. Nadagoudar has rich experience in teaching, research and academic governance. Apart from handling various responsibilities in various universities, he has served as a member of Karnataka Law Commission.
