A routine Saturday evening in Ranapratap Nagar in Nagpur, Maharashtra turned tragic within seconds after a speeding car allegedly driven recklessly hit a scooter and then struck a pedestrian, leaving one woman dead and a teenager injured.

The crash took place around 6 pm on the road connecting Radhemangal Hall to Swaroop Nagar, near Vijaya Hospital. According to a report by The Times of India, the car first rammed into a scooter being ridden by 19-year-old woman. The impact threw her onto the road, leaving her injured.

Police said the driver did not stop after hitting the scooter. The car allegedly went out of control and then hit a 61-year-old woman, who was walking nearby. The vehicle eventually crashed into an electric pole and a distribution panel (DP) box. It was only after hitting the pole that the car finally came to a halt and the driver stepped out.

A CCTV video of the incident, now viral on X, shows the woman walking along the road moments before the car comes speeding into frame. Within seconds, the collision takes place, capturing the sudden and devastating turn of events.

The elderly woman, as per the reports, was a resident of Deendayal Nagar and she sustained severe injuries. She was rushed to Viveka Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. And the other one? She received medical treatment and is reported to be stable, fortunately.

Anger Takes Over Comments

The incident has triggered strong reactions online. One user wrote, “Now the judge will ask him to write an essay and let him go with a warning. Courts and justice are a joke in India." Another commented, “There is very liberal legal process under the Juvenile justice Act 2015, immediate bail and no fear of jail, due to which crimes by minors are increasing day by day.."

Someone else claimed, “This is WagonR, minor will be treated as adult and will be given harshest punishment of lifetime karawas.." while another asked, “How many more deaths until people stop treating roads like racetracks?"

Police Takes Action Against Accused

Police later caught the driver, identified as Harsh Palewar, soon after the crash. As per the reports, a case has been registered based on the complaint of the woman who survived. The accused has been charged under Sections 281, 105, 125(B), and 324(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act and Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. An investigation is underway, with police scanning CCTV footage and recording eyewitness statements.
