BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran on Thursday asked if Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s statement describing his government as “a government for minorities” was an attempt to suppress the majority.
In a post on X, Mr. Nagenthran asked, “When a leader of the party speaks in a way that hurts the sentiments of Hindus, is ignoring such remarks what a government for all stands for?” Mr. Nagenthran claimed that the DMK now sits in the Opposition because, when it was in power, it insulted the sentiments of Hindus. “To avoid such a downfall, the TVK should refrain from speaking against Hindus,” he said.
He also condemned Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam MLA Madhar Badhurudeen for his alleged remarks against Sanatana Dharma. “Is speaking in a condemnable manner against the religious beliefs of people the kind of change that TVK advocates?” he asked. He demanded action against the MLA and urged the party to ensure that such remarks were not made in the future.
