Following the formal launch of the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Saturday, a health camp under the initiative was held at the Government Higher Secondary School in Karapidagai, Keezhaiyur Panchayat Union, Nagapattinam district.

District Collector P. Akash visited the camp and reviewed its operations. He was joined by Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation Chairman N. N. Gowthaman and Kilvelur MLA V.P. Nagai Mali.

The Nalam Kaakkum Stalin scheme is an extension of the State’s public health outreach efforts, which include flagship initiatives such as Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam, Innuyir Kappom, Nammai Kaakkum 48, Varumun Kappom, and Nadappom Nalam Peruvom. Under this scheme, comprehensive full-body health check-up is conducted in community-based camps.

Special provisions are made for early screening of cancer, including oral, breast, and cervical cancers. Eligible individuals can be enrolled in the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) at the camp site. Test reports and documentation will be issued on-site, assisting patients in pursuing treatment when necessary.

At Karapidagai camp, medical test reports and CMCHIS health cards were handed over to beneficiaries by the Collector and accompanying dignitaries. Velankanni Municipal Chairperson Adayana Shyamila, Vice-Chairperson Thomas Alva Edison, Government Medical College Dean R. Vijayakumar, and Deputy Director T. Uma (Welfare), along with senior medical staff, nurses, and health inspectors were present.
