As part of the search operation for Nancy Guthrie, a SWAT team from the Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff’s Department surrounded a home in the Tucson area on Friday evening. Three people were detained at two different locations, according to NewsNation.Police went to a home near Guthrie’s Tucson neighborhood to carry out a search warrant and asked two people, a woman and a man, possibly a mother and son, to come outside. Both followed the instructions. A third person, a man, was also detained nearby during a traffic stop at the same time. Reports say the driver was on his way to the home being searched.Around 1 1 a.m. EST, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office released an update on social platform X, saying, “Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case.
Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI – no additional information is currently available.”The residential area blocked off by police is about 1.9 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s house. Several FBI vehicles were seen at the scene of the SWAT operation. Brian Entin, a senior national correspondent was the first reporter to arrive at the scene according to NewsNation.Chris McDonough, a retired Southern California homicide detective, informed NewsNation, "When someone is detained, it means they’re not under arrest.
The reason for that is to conduct further interviews, collect forensic evidence without having to put the individual into a custody situation.”The article also reported that one neighbours, Peter Molk called the commotion “unbelievably absurd.”“It’s making everybody nervous. It’s just surreal, and we just can’t imagine how the family is processing all this,” he said.The FBI is focusing on a description of the person they believe abducted 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie from her Arizona home nearly two weeks ago, even as activity continues at the property.On Friday, a team of pool cleaners was allowed to enter the house under the supervision of sheriff’s deputies. Aside from that, there has been less movement at the home compared to earlier days.Officials say the suspect is a man of average build, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall.These updates came just hours after investigators placed a tent outside Guthrie’s Tucson home and brought in a forensic height chart — equipment used to estimate a person’s height from surveillance footage.Federal and local officers have also been going door to door in her neighborhood and in the neighborhood of her daughter, Annie, where Guthrie had dinner just hours before she went missing.
