Nanded farmers oppose fresh land acquisition for Samruddhi eway

Farmers from Nanded uprooted marking poles installed as a part of fresh land acquisition for Samruddhi Expressway

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Farmers from around 12 villages situated near Nanded, around 260 km from here, have been opposing another round of acquisition of their lands for building the proposed extension of Samruddhi Expressway between Jalna and Nanded.Highlighting that they earlier gave away their lands in 2023, the action committee of affected farmers have warned of blockade of the inter-state Akola-Sangareddy national highway on June 18.Dasrao Hambarde, one of the members of the action committee, said he had offered nearly three acre of land for Samruddhi Expressway earlier and now slated to lose an additional one acre of land.“The land in our area is well irrigated due to the nearby Vishnupuri dam.

Our future generations will not forgive us if we do not raise our voices against the official snatching of our fertile lands,” he said.According to the action committee, around 200 farmers from Nanded district will be affected due to fresh acquisition of the land. “Our land is in the vicinity of the municipal limits of Nanded. The land is fetching anything between Rs 1 crore and Rs4 crore per acre as per the current market rate.

The government, however, is only offering Rs20 lakh to Rs25 lakh per acre, which is highly objectionable,” Ashok More, another affected farmer, said.According to the action committee, 172 objections have been formally filed against the another round of acquisition. When contacted, sub-divisional officer for Nanded Sachin Khallal said around 109 hectare of additional land needs to be acquired for the extension of Samruddhi expressway.“We have received requisition from the MSRDC for additional land and the official process for another round of land acquisition is being carried out accordingly as per laid down norms,” he said.Khallal said objections raised by the farmers will be taken into account and efforts would be made for arriving at an amicable solution. Authorities said the additional land is sought for service roads and other infrastructure alongside the extension of the expressway.
