Nanded police crack missing case, arrest woman and lover for killing her husband, burying body in farm

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Markhel police in Nanded district have cracked a two-month-old missing person case, arresting the victim’s wife and her alleged paramour for allegedly murdering him and burying the body in an agricultural field while attempting to pass it off as a disappearance.The police identified the accused woman as Devkala alias Devyala Ramkrishna Golwar (40) of Ambapur village in Degloor taluka. An officer said she misled investigators by lodging a missing complaint nearly 25 days after her husband’s disappearance and giving inconsistent statements during questioning. Her alleged accomplice, Suman Bapurao Var (40), a truck owner from the same village, was arrested in Mumbai, where he had relocated and was working as a truck driver.The victim, Ramkrishna Ganpatrao Golwar (45), was a former grade-IV school employee who had taken voluntary retirement around five years ago. "Golwar went missing on April 22. His wife filed a missing complaint on May 17, claiming he had left home and never returned,” the officer said.The delayed complaint and contradictory statements, however, raised suspicion. Nanded superintendent of police Abinash Kumar said investigators examined multiple angles, including technical evidence, local intelligence and field inquiries.

“Several inconsistencies emerged during the probe, prompting a deeper investigation,” he said.Assistant inspector Ravi Hundekar said teams analysed call detail records, questioned relatives and villagers and reconstructed the victim’s last movements. “The evidence gradually pointed towards individuals known to the victim. Sustained questioning and technical analysis revealed the truth behind what initially appeared to be a missing case,” he said.Sub-inspector Vilas Pawar, part of the investigation team, said the accused eventually confessed. “They allegedly killed Golwar and buried his body in a farm to destroy evidence. Based on their disclosures, we recovered crucial evidence and completed the chain of investigation,” he said.Police later exhumed the remains in the presence of officials and collected clothing and DNA samples for forensic examination. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 103 (murder), at the Markhel police station. Both accused have been produced before a court, and further investigation is underway.
