Showcasing the state’s rich artistic heritage at the nation’s highest constitutional office, Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh presented a handcrafted “Sri Rama Pattabhishekam" artwork to President of India Droupadi Murmu on her arrival in Visakhapatnam.

The artwork was created using the traditional Etikoppaka lacquer-turned craft, which is a nearly 400-year-old art form originating from Etikoppaka village in the Visakhapatnam district. Renowned for its intricate craftsmanship, this GI-tagged handicraft is made from soft Ankudu wood and is coloured entirely with natural lac dyes, reflecting the profound skill and legacy of the village artisans.

Etikoppaka, situated on the banks of the Varaha River, is celebrated for preserving this centuries-old folk art, which has gained national and international recognition for its eco-friendly materials and meticulous detailing.
