NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel city police has denied permission for the protest march on Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Wednesday by project affected persons (PAPs) organised under the committee (Loknete Di Ba Premi Namkaran Samiti) for their long standing demand for naming of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) as Late DB Patil International Airport, after the veterans leader of the PAPs.Bala Kumbhar, senior inspector of Panvel city through a video message on social media said, "The application seeking permission for peaceful protest march on Vidhan Bhawan in Mumbai by hundreds of PAPs from Navi Mumbai and Raigad has been denied as per the orders of police commissioner Milind Bharambe.The decision has been taken considering the red alert due to heavy rains, police commissioner's prohibitory order of assembly of more than five persons and the on-going monsoon session at the state assembly."Senior inspector Kumbhar further said, "The Citizens are requested not to participate in the protest march on Vidhan Bhawan. Legal action will be taken against those defying the police order.Meanwhile, social activist Kantilal Kadu had appealed to the PAPs from Agri-Koli comunity to participate overwhelmingly in the protest march on Vidhan Bhawan on Wed.Kadu said, "As we are ready to sacrifice our lives for Late DB Patil, it would be better to participate in the protest march to spread the movement and reach Vidhan Bhavan with a fearless heart, taking firm steps in the protest.
Whether it rains or the clouds burst, whether the roads are blocked or the police administration obstructs us, we have to overcome everything and participate in the protest with determination.
""The committee's coordinator former MLC Balaram Patil from the Konkan division graduates' constituency, former Uran MLA Manohar Bhoir, Uran Mayor Bhavana Ghanekar, social activist Sarvesh Tare, Satyawan Mhatre from Mumbai and other activists also have appealed to the PAPs to participate in the protest," he added.Former MLC Balaram Patil, a senior leader of BSKP (Bharatiya Shetkari Kamgar Paksha) political party said, "Even if the police has denied permission for morcha on Vidhan Bhawan, it will still happen on Wed with huge participation of PAPs."
