Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) chief and Rajya Sabha MP, Sharad Pawar, has been admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai for a routine health check-up, sources said on Tuesday.
The 85-year-old politician was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday, with those close to him indicating that the visit is precautionary and not linked to any serious condition.
“He is in the hospital for a check-up and follow-up. There is nothing serious," a source informed PTI.
Pawar was recently seen taking the oath in the Rajya Sabha while seated in a wheelchair and had also interacted with the media in Delhi soon after.
Earlier this year, he faced a few health issues that required hospitalisation in Pune. On February 22, he was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic due to mild dehydration and was treated with intravenous fluids before being discharged after a short stay.
“He has been admitted to the Ruby Hall Clinic for mild dehydration and requires intravenous fluids. His condition is stable. He will remain in the hospital for two days and is expected to be discharged thereafter," Dr Purvez Grant, chief cardiologist and chairman and managing trustee of the hospital, had said in a statement.
Dr Grant and Dr Abhijit Lodha, consultant physician at the hospital, had supervised his treatment.
Days before that, he had been hospitalised at the same facility for a chest infection and was released on February 14 following recovery under medical supervision.
