Members of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday (August 1, 2025) strongly criticised YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his statements during his recent visit to Nellore. They also refuted his allegations of vindictive politics by the NDA government and asserted that it was the YSRCP regime during 2019-23 that introduced a culture of political vendetta.
Referring to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s claims that former Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy had manhandled current Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during their college days, Anakapalli MP C.M. Ramesh said that Mr. Jagan was deliberately spreading false propaganda to create unrest in the State. He asserted that the allegation is a blatant lie and emphasised that the people of Andhra Pradesh are well aware of the truth.

“If Naidu had any intentions of revenge, he could have acted during his three earlier terms as Chief Minister,” Mr. Ramesh stated.
The MP further said that Andhra Pradesh had never witnessed such vindictive politics in its history until the YSRCP came to power in 2019. “From Srikakulam to Anantapur, there were targeted attacks on opposition leaders,” he said.

The MP also emphasised that Chandrababu Naidu has always opposed vendetta politics. He stated that even before taking office again, Mr. Naidu clearly instructed NDA leaders to focus on governance and development, forgetting about vindictive politics.
Mr. Ramesh also stated that he has been writing to the Chief Minister, urging him to initiate investigations into alleged corruption in sand, mining, education, land and other sectors, under the previous YSRCP government from 2019 to 2023.
“If local police are not enough, I would seek the help of the Centre to send special forces and enforcement agencies,” he said. He claimed the YSRCP government failed to attract any major investments, while the current NDA administration has brought in ₹10 lakh crore in just one year.

Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao added that Mr. Jagan’s frustration is growing after his party’s defeat in the previous elections, his party losing significance and its cadre is abandoning it.
“Responding to YSRCP claims that Mr. Jagan’s public meetings are being obstructed by the government,” Ganta Srinivasa Rao said, “If the government really wanted to stop Mr. Jagan, he would not be able to step out of his house. Let me recall. Mr. Jagan had obstructed Mr. Naidu, placed him under house arrest using ropes and barricades during YSRCP’s rule.”
He added that the NDA government respects democratic values by allowing Mr. Jagan’s visits and deploying adequate police forces to maintain law and order.
Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu found fault with Mr. Jagan’s support for a YSRCP leader, who made defamatory remarks against a woman Telugu Desam Party leader. “His actions reflect his respect for women,” he said.
