Double Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra headlined the grand opening of Under Armour’s latest Brand House store at Ambience Mall in Gurugram on Friday as the javelin throw ace officially welcomed four promising Indian athletes to the Under Armour family.

Athletes Tejaswin Shankar, Jay Shah and fencers Rishika Khajuria, Jyotika Dutta joined the American manufacturers’ portfolio.

Decathlete Shankar, who is a national record holder and the nation’s first ever high-jumper to take the podium at the Commonwealth Games, was joined by All India University record holder Shah and national medallists Khajuria and Dutta in the ceremony.

Chopra extended a warm reception to the new inductees and expressed his enthusiasm over the same.

“Under Armour has been a constant partner in my journey, giving me the support and gear I need to push my limits," the Pari Olympics silver medallist said.

“I’m excited to see new athletes join the UA family, because I know what it means to have a team that believes in your potential," the 27-year-old continued.

“Tejaswin, Jay, Jyotika, and Rishika have shown incredible dedication and talent, and I’m confident they’ll inspire many more athletes across India. Together, we’re proving that with hard work and belief, underdogs can achieve greatness," the Khandra-born added.

Managing Director of Underdog Athletics, Tushar Goculdas said, “We are proud to welcome these talented athletes who embody the spirit of perseverance and excellence that Under Armour stands for," as he noted the brand’s vision for sports in India.

Chopra led a training session for aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts during the launch at the Champions Arena inside Ambience Mall.

Under Amour has association with some top-billed stars across sporting disciplines including NBA star Steph Curry, boxer Anthony Joshua, former wrestler and movie star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and PSG icon Achraf Hakimi, in addition to Chopra.
