NEET UG 2026 re-exam smooth; 89.34% candidates take the test in Hyderabad

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) re-examination on Sunday was conducted peacefully and without incident.

Out of a total of 27,954 registered candidates in Hyderabad, 24,973 appeared for the examination, while 2,981 remained absent, an overall attendance rate of 89.34%.

According to Hyderabad District Collector Priyanka Ala, the examination was conducted in strict compliance with National Testing Agency guidelines.

Along with officials, she visited the examination centre at Government Women’s Degree College, Begumpet, and reviewed the arrangements made. She inspected the security measures at the centre and the strong room, as well as the procedures for safeguarding unused and leftover examination materials. At the centre, out of 960 registered candidates, 106 were absent.

She also examined the security arrangements implemented by police and CRPF personnel and directed officials to maintain constant vigilance throughout the examination process, as well as the facilities provided at the centre, including biometric verification systems, signal jammers and CCTV surveillance.

In Telangana, a total of 72,956 candidates had registered for the exam.
