Professor Neha Singh, who found herself at the centre of a controversy during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, deactivated her LinkedIn profile, days after a row erupted over the display of a robodog at the event.

The LinkedIn page previously linked to Singh now shows a “404" error message stating that the page does not exist, indicating that the account has either been removed or made inaccessible.

The development comes amid intense scrutiny following the summit, where Singh represented Galgotias University. Later, reports claimed that her LinkedIn display image showed “open to work", indicating that the university may suspend her.

However, the university clarified that Singh has not been suspended and said an internal inquiry into the incident is underway.

How the Robodog Row Unfolded

The controversy began after a video from the summit circulated online, showing Singh introducing a robotic dog at the Galgotias University stall as a product developed by students at the institution’s Centre of Excellence.

In the clip, she described the robodog, named “Orion", as capable of surveillance and monitoring tasks and claimed it had been developed on campus.

However, social media users were quick to point out that the robodog closely resembled a commercially available robotic quadruped manufactured by Unitree Robotics.

The revelation triggered widespread criticism, with authorities subsequently asking the university to vacate its stall at Bharat Mandapam, citing “national embarrassment".

Singh Expresses Regret

A day after the issue snowballed into a major controversy, Singh said her comments had not been clearly articulated and were misunderstood.

She expressed regret over the episode, stating that the remarks were made in haste and without any intent to falsely claim ownership of the technology.

“I could have been more articulate. In the rush and excitement of the moment, things came across incorrectly, which was never the intention," she said, adding that there had been no attempt to rebrand the product.

University’s Stand

Galgotias University issued multiple statements distancing itself from the claim that the robodog was developed in-house.

The university said the device had been procured from Unitree Robotics as part of its investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

“Galgotias has not built this robodog, nor have we claimed to have done so," the university said, adding that its focus remains on nurturing talent capable of developing such technologies in the future.

In a subsequent statement, the university attributed the confusion to Singh’s “enthusiasm" and said she was not authorised to speak to the media on technical matters.

Galgotias also issued an apology to summit organisers, acknowledging that its representative at the pavilion had been “ill-informed" about the origins of the product.

“We apologise unreservedly for the confusion caused at the AI Summit. Our representative, while manning the pavilion, provided factually incorrect information in the excitement of being on camera. We respect the organisers’ sentiments and have vacated the premises," the university said.
