Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that any agreement between the United States and Iran must ensure that all enriched uranium is removed from Iran and that the country loses its ability to carry out further enrichment.

Speaking at an event in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said a deal should include clear conditions. He said all enriched material must be taken out of Iran and the country’s enrichment capability must be dismantled by removing the equipment and infrastructure used for the process. He also said the issue of Iran’s ballistic missile programme must be addressed.

His remarks came as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi travelled to Switzerland for the second round of renewed nuclear talks with the US scheduled later this week.

Uncertainty remains over Iran’s stockpile of more than 400 kilograms of 60 per cent enriched uranium, which was last inspected in June, before Israeli and US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Addressing a gathering of major American Jewish organisations, Netanyahu said he had raised these points during his recent discussions with US President Donald Trump.

He also called for strict monitoring of Iran’s nuclear programme, saying inspections must be real and effective, without prior notice. According to him, these measures are essential for any meaningful agreement.

Iran and the US resumed nuclear talks in Muscat on February 6, months after earlier negotiations collapsed following Israeli airstrikes on Iran last June that triggered a 12-day conflict.

The latest round of talks comes amid renewed tensions, with Washington warning Tehran of possible military action and deploying an aircraft carrier group to the region after Iran’s recent crackdown on anti-government protests.
