Fans of the Harry Potter franchise, have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming new television series. With still a year to go before we get to see a fresh bunch of talents step up into the wizzaring world, the makers are already getting fans excited for all that is in store.

The upcoming HBO Max series is being billed as a landmark moment for streaming, with a top bosses calling it “the streaming event of the decade.”

'Harry Potter' to be biggest streaming show

Speaking at a press event in London on Monday, JB Perrette, CEO and president of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, said that the series, set to premiere in 2027, would be "the biggest streaming event in the history of HBO Max and arguably in streaming, period.

It’s number one, two and three in many ways."

The new Harry Potter series will reimagine J.K. Rowling’s seven bestselling fantasy novels, with each season adapting one book. Warwick Davis, known for his turn as Professor Filius Flitwick in all eight of the film adaptations, will return as Professor Filius Flitwick. Opening up about his experience on returning to the same story, he said to Deadline, "We're obviously telling the same story, so there are similar moments that we're experiencing as actors on the set.

"We've been saying 2027. I would say, to narrow it down to some extent, early 2027. And now you're going to ask, does that mean January, February, March, April, that we're not ready to say. I'll say early 2027," said Casey Bloys in a statement to Deadline. Child actor Dominic McLaughlin stars in the title role of Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione, Alastair Stout as Ron.

Other stars who have joined the cast include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Snape, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, and Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, according to People.Variety reported that Hans Zimmer and his music company, will compose the score for the series, which is set to debut in 2027. HBO confirmed the news in a post that read, "Ah, music. A magic beyond all we do here!" While the Harry Potter novels have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide, the eight-film franchise has grossed over USD 7 billion at the global box office.
