Nicole Snooki Polizzi bravely shared her stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis after years of abnormal pap smears. The 'Jersey Shore' alum detailed her journey, urging women to prioritize screenings.
Her openness highlights the importance of early detection in a treatable condition.
Years of warning signs
Nicole Snooki Polizzi faced irregular pap smear results for three to four years. She admitted to delaying appointments due to fear of pain and stress. In a January 21 TikTok video, Nicole Snooki Polizzi recounted her colposcopy and biopsy experience, saying, “It’s extremely uncomfortable. I already dislike regular pap smears.”The results confirmed cancerous cells. “Results come back. Doctor calls me and he’s like, ‘Not looking great.’ He found cancerous cells on the top of my cervix,” Nicole Snooki Polizzi shared in the video. She described the procedure as “terrible, but it’s necessary” and noted her doctor’s persistence.
The official diagnosis
On February 20, Nicole Snooki Polizzi posted an update after her cone biopsy. She shared on TikTok “The results came back from my cone biopsy, you guys. And it came back stage 1 cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma,” she announced with a sigh. Though not the hoped-for news, she added, “Not the worst news, just because they caught it so early. Thank friggin’ god!”She specified it’s a rare, fast-growing type that forms in patches, skipping healthy tissue.
She needs scans to check for spread, followed by a hysterectomy while keeping her ovaries.
A call to action
Nicole Polizzi expressed mixed emotions but focused on positivity. “Clearly, this isn’t the news I was wishing for, but it’s also not the worst outcome because they identified it so early,” she said in her E! News interview. She reflected, “I’ve been facing abnormal pap smears for about three to four years now. And look where I am now.
Instead of postponing it because I was anxious and scared of the pain, I decided to take action.
”“I’m terrified. It’s scary, but we have to get it done because cervical cancer is nothing to joke about,” Nicole Snooki Polizzi mentioned earlier. She shared a clear message: “So get your appointments done, b**ches. That’s why I’m telling you guys to get your pap smears done.”Fans rallied with support, praising her vulnerability. Nicole Snooki Polizzi’s story serves as a powerful reminder that routine checkups save lives.
