Former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take his oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10, marking the first step in the formation of Bihar’s new government.

Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary confirmed the schedule, noting that Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in will precede the oath of other newly elected MPs from the state.

“This is an important first step before the induction of the new government. Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha oath will take place on April 10,” Chaudhary said.

NEWLY ELECTED BIHAR MPS TO TAKE OATH ON APRIL 16

Bihar’s newly elected Rajya Sabha MPs, including BJP national president Nitin Naveen and Sivesh Kumar, will take their oaths on April 16 during a special session of Parliament.

Alongside BJP leaders, Upendra Kushwaha, head of the RLM, will also be sworn in on the same day. All ceremonies will take place in the Rajya Sabha chamber.

BJP holds crucial Delhi meeting ahead of government formation

Sources in the BJP said a key meeting of Bihar BJP leaders will take place in Delhi on April 10, led by Nitin Naveen. The meeting will include senior central leaders and state BJP leadership.

Present will be Bihar BJP president Sanjay Sarawagi, deputy leader Samrat Chaudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Nityanand Rai, Sanjay Jaiswal, regional organisation secretary Nagendra Ji, and state organisation secretary Bhiku Bhai Dalsania. Ministers Dilip Jaiswal and Mangal Pandey are also expected to attend.

The agenda includes seeking the name of the new Chief Minister from the state core committee, attempting to reach consensus, and deciding the next steps following Nitish Kumar’s resignation as Chief Minister.

SWEARING-IN SCHEDULE AND POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE

While Nitish Kumar takes his oath on April 10, the BJP and RLM leaders’ Rajya Sabha swearing-in on April 16 will coincide with a special session of Parliament. The timing is seen as critical in setting the stage for Bihar’s new government formation and coordination between central and state leadership.
