CBSE Row: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the union government for remaining silent over alleged irregularities in the evaluation of CBSE Class 12 Board answer scripts.
In a post on X, Gandhi claimed there had been “massive tampering" in the CBSE results, leaving students and parents across the country shocked and distressed.
“There has been a massive tampering in the CBSE exam results, leaving millions of children across the country and their parents in shock. And Mr. Modi? As always—no answers, no accountability, no shame," he said.

The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition described the controversy as a “deliberate conspiracy" and questioned the decision to award the CBSE digital evaluation contract to Coempt Edu Teck, the company managing the board’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
He alleged that the company had previously operated under the name Globarena and was linked to a similar controversy in Telangana in 2019.
“Name changed—but the intent the same, the nature the same. Everyone knew the history, yet the contract was still awarded. The future of 1.85 million children was handed over to such a company, and no one batted an eye. This isn’t a mistake—it’s a deliberate conspiracy," Gandhi said while demanding an independent inquiry and immediate formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The Congress leader also posed several questions to the government, including why the contract was awarded to Coempt, whether due procedures were followed, and if adequate background checks had been conducted.
What’s The Row?
The controversy erupted after several students reported technical glitches and alleged mismatches in answer sheets uploaded during the re-evaluation process under the new digital marking system introduced this year by CBSE.
Under the OSM system, physical answer sheets were scanned and uploaded online for evaluation by teachers. Nearly 98 lakh answer sheets were digitised after more than 18 lakh students appeared for the Class 12 board examinations.
Concerns over the system intensified after a student, Vedant Shrivastava, claimed that the Physics answer sheet linked to his roll number did not belong to him. He shared screenshots online comparing handwriting differences between subjects and questioned whether his actual paper had been evaluated.
The issue triggered widespread debate on social media, with students and parents raising concerns over scanning errors, portal glitches and the reliability of the digital evaluation process.
