As photographs of PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss feeding a birthday cake to his mother, Saraswathi, made its way into social media on Saturday, and gave rise to speculation that the feud within the party was resolved, PMK founder S. Ramadoss asserted the general body meeting he had announced earlier will be held on Sunday in Puducherry as planned.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ramadoss said that some “poisonous” elements had floated rumours that the general body meeting was cancelled following a truce.
“This is not true. The information is a lie,” he said.
“My wife celebrated her 77th birthday. So, he had come with his family. He wished her and left. We both exchanged pleasantries... We had no conversation. But some poisonous elements have spread fake news. The general body members should not believe in rumours and attend the general body meeting. I am going to pass certain important resolutions,” he said. Dr. Ramadoss said that no invitation has been extended to Dr. Anbumani as he has not formally accepted the post of the working president.
Sources close to Dr. Anbumani said, “Dr. Anbumani’s mother was extremely happy. The family members were also glad to see Dr. Anbumani, and they all reached out to Dr. Ramadoss for a truce. We hope Dr. Ramadoss will also come around.”
