No LPG shortage in Chhattisgarh, CM Vishnu Deo Sai assures

RAIPUR: Amid ongoing tensions due to the war in the Middle East which has started affecting household kitchens in India with the price of domestic LPG cylinders in the country increasing, Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai has advised people in the state not to worry.

CM Sai on Tuesday assured that there is no shortage of cooking gas in Chhattisgarh, directing district officials to ensure smooth supply of LPG across the state and keep strict watch on stocks. The CM said adequate stocks of LPG, petrol and diesel are available and asked officials to regularly monitor supply through gas agencies to prevent any disruption.Sai also warned that strict action would be taken against black marketing or irregularities if complaints are received.

He appealed to people not to panic or fall for rumours and to book LPG cylinders only as per requirement. The assurance comes amid reports of shortage of commercial LPG cylinders in some parts of the country, prompting the Chhattisgarh Hotel & Restaurant Association (CGHRA) to issue an advisory to hotels, restaurants and caterers in the state. The association urged food businesses to remain calm and avoid panic buying, and asked members to immediately inform it of any major disruption in LPG supply. It also cautioned against hoarding cylinders, saying such practices could worsen the situation for the hospitality sector.
