United States President Donald Trump on Thursday urged House Republicans to unite behind the party’s legislative agenda and stop voting against procedural rules, following a meeting with House Speaker Mike Johnson aimed at breaking a Republican standoff over voting legislation.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump called on members of his party to stop threatening to block House business, saying internal divisions were handing an advantage to Democrats.

“House Republicans should unify, and stop voting down ‘Rules’ or, threatening to do so. Giving power to the Radical Left Dumocrats in the House to control what goes up for a Vote will make our outcomes worse, not better. No more grandstanding, please! They are the Dumocrats, and we can’t let them WIN!," he wrote.

Trump’s remarks came after a meeting with Johnson at the White House, where the two discussed the legislative impasse surrounding the SAVE America Act, a Republican-backed voter identification bill that has stalled in the Senate.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Johnson said the discussion with Trump was “very productive" and that they were “exactly on the same page."

The speaker also addressed opposition from some House conservatives led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, whose push to force Senate action on the SAVE America Act has disrupted House proceedings this week.

“He wants to ensure that we stop any blockade in the House. Congress has work to do, and that’s what we’re going to do. And so we’ll be moving forward on all of that. We’re transmitting the housing bill to the White House, and you saw his Truth posts. If you haven’t, you should, that you know the majority party should never be voting down rules. We got to be able to move forward on legislation and continue the America First agenda," Johnson said.

“It’s another day at the office, you know, this is a process in an era with small margins, but we’ll get the job done. We always do, and we’ll see you guys on Monday," he added.

The meeting took place as House Republicans remain divided over the SAVE America Act, which would require a photo ID to vote in federal elections and proof of US citizenship to register to vote, while requiring states to provide voter registration rolls to the federal government.

The bill passed the House in February but has not advanced in the Senate, where it has failed to secure passage despite repeated attempts.

Hardline Trump allies led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna have effectively shut down the House floor, insisting they will not allow proceedings to move forward until the Senate passes the SAVE America Act.

Following Thursday’s meeting, he also confirmed that the bipartisan housing bill had been transmitted to the White House and it’s on track to become law, a day after Trump refused to sign it.
