No need for unnecessary fear about diabetes: Dr Sandeep Srivastava

Belagavi: Diabetes is not inherently a life-threatening disease and can be effectively managed with timely medical advice and proper treatment, said senior diabetologist Dr Sandeep Srivastava.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Diabetes Karnataka–2026’, a two-day awareness programme organised by the MedBell Global Health Care and Research Foundation in Belagavi on Saturday evening.Dr Srivastava emphasised that patients should not succumb to fear or anxiety about the condition. “With confidence, regular monitoring, and a disciplined approach to health, people with diabetes can lead a normal life,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of regular exercise, a balanced diet, and a healthy lifestyle in controlling the disease, and commended MedBell Global for organising the large-scale initiative.He noted that advancements in medical technology have significantly improved treatment outcomes for diabetes and other chronic conditions. “Early diagnosis and strict adherence to medical advice are crucial. The disease should not be ignored at any stage,” he added.

Pointing to rising cases, Dr Srivastava attributed the trend to modern lifestyles, stress, and irregular dietary habits. He stressed that individuals must prioritize their health alongside professional commitments, adding that awareness and preventive care are key to building a healthier society.Renowned cardiologist Dr Devi Prasad Shetty underscored the need for increased awareness, regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and medical compliance in managing diabetes.
