Early in the ongoing Iran war, US President Donald Trump is facing unusually sharp criticism from several conservative media figures who have often supported him.

Among those voicing concerns are former Fox News Anchor Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and commentator Matt Walsh, who questioned the reasoning behind the US military action and its connection to Israel. Their remarks have drawn attention in the White House, which has responded through interviews and social media.

Carlson described the attack as “disgusting and evil" on his podcast, suggesting that the decision was heavily influenced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Kelly, meanwhile, argued that American service members should not die for another country, saying on her show that the casualties were not in the interest of the United States.

Former Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly slammed Trump’s war on her show talked about American casualties that “no one should have to die for a foreign country."

“I don’t think those service members died for the United States," Kelly added. “I think they died for Iran or Israel."

The controversy intensified after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the administration approved the operation partly because Israel was preparing to strike and there were fears of Iranian retaliation against US bases in the region.

Walsh criticised Rubio’s comments on social media, claiming they suggested the US had been pushed into war because of Israel’s actions. Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene also voiced anger, arguing that the “Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement was meant to prioritise American interests.

Despite the criticism, Trump dismissed the backlash, saying the views of Carlson and Kelly do not reflect his broader support base. “MAGA is Trump," he said, insisting that most supporters remain behind him.

Media analysts say the criticism reflects a rare fracture within conservative media circles. However, much of the pro-Trump media ecosystem, particularly hosts on Fox News, has continued to support the president’s decision.

Prominent Fox personalities such as Sean Hannity, Brian Kilmeade, and Mark Levin have defended the administration, praising the military operation and the president’s leadership.

Observers note that while disagreements have surfaced, most conservative outlets and commentators still appear to back Trump, suggesting that the internal debate may not significantly weaken his support within the broader MAGA movement.
