US-Israel-Iran War: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday (local time) asserted that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran was reached “in full cooperation" with Israel, rejecting speculations that Tel Aviv was informed at the last minute.

While issuing a press statement a day after the ceasefire announcement, the Israeli leader emphasised that Israel had been fully involved in the decision-making process. “The ceasefire was coordinated in full with Israel," he said.

He further thanked the Israeli public for their resilience.

“We accomplished together massive achievements," he said, adding, “our fighters on the front, and you in the rear."

He said that the “bottom line" of the campaign is that “Israel is stronger than ever, and Iran is weaker than ever."

However, Netanyahu made clear that the two-week ceasefire does not mark the end of hostilities. “We have an agreement for a ceasefire for two weeks, and this does not mean the end of the war," he said.

Netanyahu also warned that Israel remains fully prepared to resume military action if required. “Israel is ready to return to fighting at any time. The finger is on the trigger," he said, underscoring the fragile nature of the truce.

He added that Israel still has “more goals to complete" in Iran and vowed to achieve them “either through agreement, or through renewed fighting."

The Israeli leader also highlighted close coordination with Washington, describing ties with the United States as unprecedented and noting his ongoing communication with US President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu also stressed that the ceasefire does not extend to Israel’s operations against Hezbollah, claiming the group has recently suffered one of its most significant setbacks.

US-Iran Ceasefire

These comments came a day after Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran, on the condition that Tehran agrees to a “complete, immediate, and safe opening" of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Iran has agreed to briefly reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a move that helped ease global oil prices and triggered a relief rally in financial markets. However, major sticking points remain, including sanctions, Iran’s nuclear programme, and long-term control of the waterway.

Netanyahu is facing strong criticism after the truce was announced. Opposition leader Yair Lapid sharply criticised the prime minister. In a post on X, he said, “There has never been such a political disaster in all our history." He claimed Israel was not involved when key decisions were taken about its national security. “Israel wasn’t even at the table when decisions were made concerning the core of our national security," he said on X.

This came after Israel supported the decision by the United States to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks on Wednesday. However, the ceasefire does not include Lebanon, according to the prime minister’s office.
