Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis has announced that the company will not launch a successor to the CMF Phone 2 Pro this year, essentially putting months of speculation around a potential debut of “CMF Phone 3 Pro” to rest.

The announcement comes shortly after the tech brand teased upcoming products through its trademark, Pokémon-themed marketing campaign.

Why Nothing will not launch a CMF phone this year

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Evangelidis explained that the decision to scrap the smartphone was driven entirely by the increasing costs of memory and storage components. According to the executive, current market conditions make it nearly impossible for CMF to deliver a meaningful upgrade over the CMF Phone 2 Pro without significantly increasing the final retail price for consumers.He emphasised that CMF chose to remain transparent with its community rather than release what could be perceived as an iterative update. For context, the popular CMF Phone 2 Pro had launched in April 2025 at Rs 18,999, boasting a Dimensity 7300 Pro processor and a triple camera setup.However, he said that there are plenty of launches lineup for this year, including entries into new categories. He also hinted that Nothing’s smartphone launch cycle is not over yet, suggesting that another phone announcement could be on the horizon.
