Novak Djokovic Sets Up Mouthwatering US Open Semifinal Clash With Carlos Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic defeated local favourite Taylor Fritz in four sets to advance to the semifinals of the year's last Grand Slam tournament.

Novak Djokovic set up a blockbuster US Open semifinal clash with Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday as the Serbian star kept his bid for a record 25th Grand Slam firmly on track. Djokovic has qualified for the US Open men’s singles semifinal after beating fourth seed Taylor Fritz 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over fourth seed Taylor Fritz.

Earlier in the day, Alcaraz, winner of US Open 2022, swept aside Jiri Lehecka to enter the semifinals having not yet dropped a single in the ongoing competition. The Spaniard won 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

“I just played a really — or almost perfect match," said Alcaraz, who has won 35 of his last 36 matches since the start of the Italian Open in May. “It seems like, OK, just two more steps to do, and let’s see what happens. But yeah, I’m just feeling great and hungry to make it."
