Following the Trinamool Congress's defeat in the Assembly polls, eggs flying at TMC leaders and crowds chanting "chor, chor" have become common. On Wednesday, TMC MP Mahua Moitra became the latest target of "dim-o-cracy". In a Facebook Live broadcast, Moitra accused "BJP goons" of throwing eggs and brinjals at her office in Krishnanagar, where she was holding a meeting with party workers.
Interestingly, the incident came on a day the Calcutta High Court pulled up the BJP-led Bengal government over the spate of egg-hurling incidents against TMC leaders. The court said that hurling eggs at politicians "has become a social evil".
