Bareilly: A 30-year-old nursing assistant died under suspicious circumstances at a private hospital in Bareilly on Saturday. Police have registered an FIR against his wife, her sister and brother-in-law following a complaint by his family, who alleged that he was poisoned.Family members said Kuldeep Goswami and his wife had been involved in a domestic dispute for some time, following which she began living at her sister’s house. They alleged that the wife, her sister and brother-in-law had been mentally harassing him.According to the complaint, Goswami went to his sister-in-law’s house on June 30 to apologise and try to resolve the dispute with his wife. An argument allegedly broke out, after which he was found unconscious.
He was taken to a private hospital, where he died during treatment.The family said doctors informed them that Goswami had consumed a toxic substance and demanded strict action against those responsible. However, police said a video that surfaced during the investigation suggested the case might be one of suicide. Based on the evidence collected so far, an FIR was registered under BNS Section 108 (abetment of suicide).
Cantt police inspector Sanjay Dhir said, “The body has been sent for postmortem examination. We are waiting for the viscera report and examining other evidence. All angles, including suicide, abetment to suicide and murder by poisoning, are being investigated before any further legal action is taken.”
