Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said Israel’s attack on Iran was “totally unjustified”. “As far as I know, Iran did not give any reason to Israel to carry out attacks on it. Israel, of its own will, waged war against the country, calling it a preemptive attack,” Abdullah told reporters here.
If the world powers remain silent on Israel’s aggression, it would be “very unfortunate”, Abdullah said. “Today, Israel did what Russia did with Ukraine. You raise your voice against Russia, and a movement starts against Russia, but when Israel attacks Iran, the world powers — be it the US, Europe, or any other country — fall silent.
J&K’s head cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned Israel’s attack on Iran, saying it has become a “rogue state”. “While perpetuating genocide on hapless Palestinians and getting away with it, Israel is now putting the whole of Middle East in peril. It has become a rogue state and a huge threat to world peace,” he told the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid. He called upon the UN and world leaders to put pressure on Israel to stop the “genocide” and war in Gaza and prevent it from “targeting other nations”. Mirwaiz Farooq, who was delivering his first Friday sermon since Eid, also said that the J&K Lieutenant Governor should explain Eid prayer bans.
