A man walking along the roadside in Perampalli village in Karnataka’s Udupi was run over by a crane in broad daylight. The accident took place in front of the Herga Agricultural Service Cooperative Society. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.

According to preliminary reports, the crane driver allegedly swerved the vehicle to avoid an oncoming car and, in the process, ran over the man walking alone along the roadside. The horrific incident was captured on CCTV.

In the video, the man can be seen coming under the vehicles of the crane. The footage shows the driver halting his vehicle for a brief moment after the man was run over but he soon resumed his journey without checking on the man. A few moments later, the pedestrian managed to regain his senses, visibly struggling to get up. It is to be noted that the vehicle was moving in a moderate speed when the accident occurred.

The driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident. So far, no arrests have been made as

authorities continue to examine the footage to trace the driver.

Crane Crushes Man To Death In Rajasthan

Earlier in January, an elderly farmer, Kailash Gurjar (56), was crushed to death by a speeding crane on the service road of the Jaipur-Agra National Highway in Dausa, Rajasthan. According to police, Gurjar was walking home from Manpur Chauraha Market when the crane hit him from behind, and its wheels ran over his body. He was declared dead on the spot. The driver fled, and authorities launched a search based on a complaint filed by Gurjar’s son.

Residents in both areas have raised concerns over the reckless operation of cranes and other heavy vehicles. Along busy service roads and near industrial units, large vehicles frequently move at high speeds, posing serious risks to pedestrians. Locals have demanded stricter enforcement of traffic rules and accountability for drivers of such heavy machinery to prevent any untoward incident in the future.
