The former district surgeon of Chikkamagaluru has lodged a complaint with the Chikkamgaluru Town Police alleging that he was cheated of ₹2.05 lakh by a person named C.R. Mithun, who impersonated an IAS officer.

Dr. Chandrashekhar, who was removed from the post of district surgeon following allegations of him joining hands with Mithun in cheating a medical shop owner in the city, has now alleged that Mithun met him at the Aralaguppe Mallegowda District Hospital a year ago and introduced himself as an IAS officer. He had brought his grandfather for treatment. Five months later, he visited the hospital again and informed the complainant that his training programme was over and he was likely to get a posting in the Health Department.
