One more contractor arrested in Nal se Jal scam

Vadodara: One more person was arrested in connection with the alleged Nal se Jal scam in Mahisagar district. Kaushik Joshi, one of the contractors in the project, was arrested after his involvement in the scam worth crores of rupees surfaced.

With his arrest, the total number of arrests in the scam touched 41.According to the police, Joshi allegedly committed irregularities in 44 villages in the district. He had contested Assembly elections from Lunavada seat in the past. The scam surfaced a couple of years ago in the scheme for laying pipelines for tapped drinking water in the district.Several contractors were alleged to have not done the work properly and not even laid pipelines in some villages. An FIR was also registered against a contractor. Many contractors were blacklisted by the Water and Sanitation Management Organisation (WASMO), the special purpose vehicle, of the govt for the scheme.
