Reaching a significant milestone in the special intensive revision (SIR), the Election Commission of India (ECI) has managed to collect 6.99 crore forms out of 7.90 crore registered voters in the state, with nine days left before the July 25 deadline.
Only 54.07 lakh enumeration forms are pending to be collected.
The poll body said on Wednesday that 35.69 lakh (4.5%) electors were not found at their addresses. This includes probably 12.55 lakh deceased electors, 17.37 lakh permanently shifted, and 5.76 lakh enrolled at multiple places.
On Monday, News18 had reported that 35.69 lakh names are expected to be dropped from the current voter list.
In order to re-verify the electors who have not been found at their addresses even after three visits of booth-level officers (BLOs)—probably deceased, permanently shifted, or having enrolled at multiple places—the information will also be shared with district presidents of political parties and 1.5 lakh booth-level agents (BLAs) appointed by them from Thursday onwards, so that the exact status of such voters can be confirmed by them before July 25.
Speaking with News18, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar thanked all the voters for their participation.
“I thank all eligible electors of Bihar for actively participating in the much-needed cleaning of the electoral rolls," he said.
In a statement, the poll body said that electors can also check the status of their enumeration forms either on the ECINet App or at https://voters.eci.gov.in.
“As on today, 6,99,92,926 of the existing electors have given their Enumeration Form to be included in the draft Electoral-Roll to be published on 1st August, 2025," the ECI said in a statement.
The poll body also explained that those who have temporarily migrated outside Bihar can also fill the enumeration forms online using their mobile phones through the ECINet App or https://voters.eci.gov.in.
“They may also download the pre-filled Enumeration form and share their filled forms with BLOs directly or through family via WhatsApp or any medium," the ECI added.
The special revision is part of the EC’s broader effort to ensure accuracy in the electoral rolls ahead of the elections to be held later this year.
All individuals who submit their enumeration forms by July 25 will be included in the draft voter list, expected on August 1. Eligibility documents can be submitted separately during the claims and objections period, which ends on September 1. The final electoral rolls are likely to be published by September 30, ahead of the assembly elections expected in October-November.
