Highlighting ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the recent war in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday underlined India’s commitment to global peace, stressing that conflicts must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than military means.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Modi said, “Today, the world is passing through a phase of instability and uncertainty. From Ukraine to West Asia, conflict persists in many parts of the world. India and Finland, both, believe in the rule of law, dialogue, and diplomacy. We are in agreement that no issue can be resolved through military conflict alone. Be it Ukraine or West Asia, we will continue to support the swift end of conflicts and every effort towards peace."
The prime minister emphasised that India, in partnership with Finland, seeks to promote solutions grounded in negotiation, international law, and peaceful coexistence.
PM Modi highlighted the growing strategic partnership between India and Finland, citing the historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement signed in early 2026. He added the agreement will strengthen trade, investment, and technology cooperation between the two countries.
“We are shaping India-Finland relations into a strategic partnership in digitalisation and sustainability. This partnership, from AI to 6G telecom, from clean energy to quantum computing, will give momentum and energy to our cooperation in many high-tech areas," he added.
