OpenAI launches Prism, a free AI tool for writing and collaboration in science

ChatGPT-maker OpenAI has introduced Prism a cloud-based workspace which brings together scientific writing collaboration, and advanced reasoning powered by GPT- 5.2. The new tool is designed to take care of fragmented workflows which include drafting papers, managing citations and coordinating with collaborators.

“We’re introducing Prism, a free, AI-native workspace for scientists to write and collaborate on research, powered by GPT‑5.2. Prism offers unlimited projects and collaborators and is available today to anyone with a ChatGPT personal account.Prism will be available soon to organizations using ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Education plans,” said the company.

What Prism offers

OpenAI’s new tool Prism directly integrates AI into scientific writing process and offer many other features such as:

  • Drafting and revising papers. The tool is capable of drafting papers with full context including equations, citations and figures.
  • The tool also chats with GTP-5.2 and explore ideas, test hypotheses and also reason through complex problems.
  • It can also search and incorporate literature directly into manuscripts.
  • It offers equation and diagram support and can turn whiteboard sketches into LaTeX
  • The tool also offer real-time collaboration with unlimited co-authors, students and advisors
  • It also comes with voice-based editing functionality

Prism is free to use, and anyone with a ChatGPT account can start writing immediately. There are no subscriptions or seat limits.
