The Lok Sabha on Tuesday (July 22, 2025) witnessed only two minutes of functioning as the Opposition members trooped into the well of the House as soon the proceedings began.

They were carrying placards on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Soon after the adjournment, the Opposition leaders protested on the steps of the Makar Dwar.

The members of the Opposition in the House of elders sought to raise several issues relating to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise for updating of electoral rolls in Bihar.

In the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manickam Tagore moved a notice on the SIR, but the House adjourned within minutes.

Several leaders in the Opposition had already expressed their disapproval on the SIR right after it was announced.

On Sunday (July 20, 2025), the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, had shared letters he had written to 35 leaders seeking their support in the fight against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, alleging large-scale disenfranchisement.

The Opposition had moved 12 notices under Rule 267, requiring the suspension of the day’s business to debate the listed issue. Soon after the listed papers were tabled, Deputy Chairman Harivansh rejected 12 different adjournment notices sent to the Chair under Rule 267.

Among major legislative business listed for today (July 22, 2025), the Lok Sabha is to discuss The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024, and the Rajya Sabha is to take up The Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025.
