Consumers with outstanding water bills in Bengaluru will receive details of their outstanding amount and instructions to pay the same in the window opened for the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme, along with April’s water bills, said Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

To ease the burden on consumers, the OTS scheme will be open for a limited three-month period from April to June 2026. Under the scheme, consumers can clear their dues by paying the principal amount while benefiting from a waiver on accumulated interest, a release stated.

According to BWSSB data, out of nearly 11 lakh water connections, about 5.11 lakh consumers have pending bills. As of February 2026, total arrears stand at ₹851.33 crore, with a principal amount of ₹539.43 crore and interest of ₹311.90 crore.

Each eligible consumer will receive a detailed communication attached to their bill. This will include a breakdown of the outstanding principal, the interest amount waived, the final payable sum, payment options, and eligibility criteria, said BWSSB chairman Ram Prasath Manohar

Mr. Manohar said that all preparations for the implementation have been completed and urged consumers to take advantage of the scheme. “This is a valuable opportunity for those with long-pending dues to settle their bills at reduced cost and regularise their connections,” he said.
