New Delhi: Microsoft has publicly acknowledged the fact that it is going to close its email service, Outlook Lite, on May 25, 2026. According to Microsoft, the Outlook Lite application will still technically open past the deadline, but will no longer work. In 2022, the Outlook Lite application was announced.
It was to be designed as the smaller of the two versions of the regular Outlook application, targeting Android devices with low storage capacity and areas with lower internet speeds.
It was already slated to retire, and Microsoft announced last year that it would be pulled out of the Google Play Store in October 2025.
According to Microsoft, users will be required to migrate to the primary Microsoft Outlook Mobile application, which offers a wider range of support to the mailbox features and compliance features.
Users will not be able to access their mailboxes, and core features such as navigation and in-application actions will stop working after the deadline. Microsoft was going to stop enabling the latest downloads of Outlook Lite from October 6, 2025. The existing users are now being advised to switch as soon as possible to avoid disruption.
Those emails, calendar entries, and attachments will going to remain safe and accessible. The users can retrieve all their existing data simplified by signing in to the Outlook Mobile application with the same account credentials.
